Back In The Saddle (or back at the sewing machine)

Happy new year! We are finally over Covid and I finally have my sew-jo back! I have started some new tote bags, purses, backpacks and more.
This is the year I plan to get my Etsy shop back in full gear.  I did start it back up after Thanksgiving piecing and quilting stockings.

Then we got Covid on Christmas Eve. So I had to slow down and just rest for what took nearly a month. I am gladgot it and got it over with.
Speaking of quilting, i have another new passion tha t started a little over a year ago. I found out about QAYG quilting, an amazing way to quilt and join blocks as you go. I am currently using the tutorial by Darlene Michaud on YouTube.  I started with a small lap quilt. Then went big by piecing 81 blocks of LeMoyne Stars for a king size quilt with random fabric pieces that I tried to keep within the jewel tones. I was gifted with these beautiful fabrics by a dear friend who was cleaning out her attic. Many of them were vintage.

My newest project is another quilt which is throw-sized with lots of brown tones with backing and sashing in orange inspired by the Bengals. 🙂 (because it's for my hubby and Bengals happen to be his favorite team)

I was planning to get more red bags made in February but a nasty fall on our northeast ohio snow and ice has set me back a bit. I have color schemes in mind for each month and am planning on making green my color for March. Working on a "color-of-the- month" gives me more to focus on. I am also hoping to get my many small bundles of fabric organized into colors.
I have combined my quilting obsession with my love for making bags.
Crossbody quilted LaMoyne star tote.

Before I move on to some green sewing of the color green for March's color-of-the-month i have a tub and a half full of items already made to catch up with listing on Etsy. Thank you so much for supporting handmade! So stay tuned for some fresh new items to come.

Newest Ceations

So what to do with all those cords i cut for mask making that is no longer a necessity at least where we are in Ohio? I love to make purses and bags so i decided why not get back to making bags. So after making drawstring bags as gifts for two sweet little girls i have set out to do just that.

I have a few cute pieces of fabric and lots of cords cut from cotton t-shirts.

Japanese Made Sewing Machine Electro Grande 300oi

One of my newest challenges in vintage sewing machines. This pretty machine was a freebie, from someones attic, with years of dust and grime to be cleaned. It was formerly destined to go on the curb if no one wanted to take it. So my need to rescue such machines from such a demise was again fulfilled.

I replaced some wiring and added a new tension mechanism. These machines are so surprisingly solid and run great when cleaned and oiled regularly.
